Our Story: How JPnomad STUDY Began

JPnomad STUDY started with a simple wish—to make Japanese learning more approachable, practical, and enjoyable for people living outside Japan.

Hi! I’m AYA the teacher of JPnomad STUDY. I’ve been living in Malta since 2019, and over the years, I’ve met so many people who were curious about Japanese language and culture but didn’t know where to start. That inspired me to create a space where people can learn Japanese casually and confidently—through real conversation, shared passions, and a supportive environment.

Before moving to Malta, I worked at a Japanese language school in Tokyo, which sparked my love for exchanging cultures and languages. I’ve also studied Spanish and Italian myself, so I understand how challenging it can be to learn a new language—and how important it is to feel relaxed and encouraged along the way.

As someone who loves travel, culture, and communication, I see language as a bridge between people. I hope JPnomad STUDY can be that bridge for you—whether you’re learning for fun, travel, or something more.

Let’s enjoy this journey together!

Where and How We Learn: Flexible, Friendly, and Focused on You

At JPnomad STUDY, we believe that learning Japanese should feel natural—like having a good conversation with a friend.
That’s why our lessons are designed to be flexible, supportive, and rooted in real-life communication.

Whether you prefer learning online from the comfort of your home or in person here in Malta, we’ve got a class style that works for you.

In-person classes in Malta

Our in-person classes take place in relaxed, cozy cafés—perfect for practicing real Japanese in real-life settings. For group lessons, we’ll select a spacious, accessible café where everyone feels comfortable joining in.

For private lessons, you get more freedom! You can choose your favorite café in Sliema or St. Julian’s area if you prefer, and we’ll meet there for a one-on-one session tailored to your goals and pace.

Online lessons

If you’re not in Malta—or just prefer to learn in your pajamas—we also offer private online lessons via Zoom or your preferred platform. You’ll still get the same warm, interactive learning experience, no matter where you are in the world.

Our goal is to make learning Japanese as enjoyable and stress-free as possible. No pressure. Just progress, connection, and a lot of encouragement.
